How fitting - a delay
Well, Catherine's End of Treatment BMA and LP were delayed a week. She has been coughing (hacking is more like it) and her oxygen saturation levels were too low to put her under an anesthetic. Dr. Farzana said that if she were to be getting chemo they would nebulize her and give her extra oxygen, but for an end of treatment procedure, why take the chance of her oxygen levels going too low. They nebulized her twice anyway and suggested that I see my pediatrician as soon as possible to discuss asthma medications because they think she has asthma (I have been saying this for about a year, but no one listens). Thankfully, my pediatrician was able to see us quickly and we went from Guilford straight to Dr. T. And he concurred. He nebulized her at his office with 2 more medicines which I will have to do twice a day for 5 days to clear her up. From there we will figure out what needs to be done to prevent her from getting to this point. Dr. T joked that he often gives kids Decadron for a few days, I told him that he couldn't do that to me, so she'll get asthma-specific stuff. I will now put a nebulizer machine in the space where I kept the chemo. It just never ends.
